• It’s called “Dead” because no animals or plants can live in such environment, although bacteria and microbial fungi are present.

• Due to the high salt content, you can lay on the surface of the water without even trying to float.
• Cleopatra loved the Dead Sea so much, she ordered that cosmetic factories and resorts be built along its shores.
• In 1947 a Bedouin shepherd discovered some of the oldest copies ever discovered of the Bible in a cave above the Dead Sea. These 2,100-year-old manuscripts are known as the Dead Sea Scrolls.
• Egyptians used mud from the Dead Sea in their mummification of their dead.

• Due to the reduced quantity of inflowing water from the Jordan River the Dead Sea is shrinking rapidly, (its level is dropping at the rate of cca. 1 meter per year). At this rate, it could dry up over the next 50 years.
• Dead Sea mud is packed with a total of 26 essential minerals, which brings a very youthful glow to the skin.
• The unique salt in the Dead Sea treats acne, psoriasis, hives, cellulite, dry skin, dandruff, stress, muscle aches, and more.
• The Dead Sea is considered to be the world’s largest “natural spa.”
